John's Gospel 1-6

This study presents a thorough study of the first six chapters of John's Gospel in an exegetical (verse by verse) fashion. Please note: this is not your simple, quick overview kind of study but a more extensive study for those who want to cover a book of the Bible in some depth.

John's Gospel is noted for its depth of thought and its presentation of more of the sayings of Jesus than any other Gospel. This study covers some of the most famous and loved accounts of our Savior's life and ministry and his most famous teachings. These chapters cover Jesus "Time of Popularity."

  • John the Baptist and "the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world"
  • Nicodemus and being "born again"
  • Samaritan Woman at Jacob's well & the "fields ripe for harvest"
  • Lame man at Bethesda
  • Feeding of the 5,000
  • Jesus walking on the Sea of Galilee in the midst of the storm
  • Jesus' Bread of Life discourse
  • The crowds "go away" and Peter's great confession

This study will lead to discussions of many, if not most of, the teachings of Scripture and application to the lives of God's people today. John's Gospel is truly amazing from that standpoint alone.

If you or your people desire a more in-depth study of a book of the Bible, this study is for you!

Note: this study is NOT divided into set lessons, allowing for total flexibility in the amount of time you need to cover the material.

Ruth

If published today, the Book of Ruth mighr be called "an original love story." It is that and more. In the lives of the three main characters (Ruth, Boaz, and Naomi), a self-giving love is on display that is reflective of God's love.

In this short, four lesson study, your people will get a glimpse into the private lives of ordinary Israelites and learn of their customs. They will see the kind of faith, love, and piety that God would have us all embody as a reflection of his love. They will learn more about the key concept of redemption. They will note with deep appreciation that entrance into God'sd kingdom is based, not on birth or blood, but on faith. And they will marvel at God's grace as he works out his will in the lives of these families -- not only for their good, but especially for the coming kingdom of his Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ideal for use with Ladies groups, or in small group Bible studies. But don't shy away from presenting it to the entire congregation.

Between the Testaments

  under development

It's only the turn of a page as you move from the Old Testament to the New Testament, from Malachi to Matthew. But with that page turn comes 400 years of history not recorded in the sacered text.

We've become so accustomed to it, that we hardly give it a second thought. But the world of the Old Testament is world's apart from the time we find as we enter into the New Testament era.

Though not essential to an understanding of New Testament teaching, this period provides the Bible student with a better understanding of the forces that shaped the time and the nation into which our Lord came. They will learn about Daniel's mysterious prophecy of "the abomination that causes desolation" and see it fulfilled in this period. They will learn about the origins of Hanukkah (referred to in the NT as the "Feast of Dedication"), and learn why so many people in Jesus' day looked for a political messiah rather than a Savior from sin.
